To rib or not to rib?

That is the question.
Here is a cuff - should I continue the rib on the instep or just knit stockinette?
I'm not following any pattern, so the choices are open.
Then these arrived today (yippee!!)

and I am ready to begin Embossed Leaves (again).

What do you think - Blue

or Burgundy?

And really, thanks for letting me rant yesterday.

I needed to vent.

I say no ribbing on the instep. But that's because I'm lazy and I like the foot to be mainly knitting without brains.

I think both the blue and the red are pretty and would look great as Embossed Leaves. But if I had to choose, I'd probably go with blue.

I always just do stockinette, it gives a better fit IMHO.

I like ribbing on top of the instep, but I prefer the look. Yay for pony pearls, I love those needles, just watch the metal rod doesn't end up falling out the tip (happened to one of mine).

I don't have a suggestion. But had to tell you that I am digging the colorway. Those are going to be gorgeous socks.

I vote for ribbing on the instep. Just to make things intersting, you know.
And either color for the embossed leaves, they're both great.

I agree with the others, I'd also say no to ribbing on the instep. I tried this once and it wasn't a really good feeling wearing it and the fit wasn't that good either. I think plain stockinette is just perfect for the instep!
Gorgeous yarn by the way!

The ribbing on the instep would look very good, as the next pictures up have shown. Lol.. I'm behind in my blogroll reading!

The KP very lovely blue is my vote for color of next socks. The red is lovely but the blue is silken looking. Hope your Saturday was wonderful for you and your students.
